Am I giving up by getting a stairlift?
On the contrary, so many of our delighted customers say that installing a Stairlift considerably improved their life! Many of our clients have put off purchasing a stairlift only to realise that once the lift is installed they can start enjoying day to day life again. In fact many of our customers then go on to buy products like scooters and start to travel out of the home again.
How much does your stairlift cost?
That would depend on whether your staircase is straight or curved; the configuration, the length of track and how many bends are included. We assess each situation to judge the best parking position – and to avoid blocked doorways at the bottom of the stairs. This means that every stairlift is built to meet the needs of each user. What is sure is that the price is significantly less than moving to a new home!
This explains the need for a personal and confidential survey, which our trained surveyors will carry out without cost or obligation.
What happens if I want to move to a new property or if I no longer need the lift, will you re purchase the lift?
We offer a number of services according to the type, age, condition and service history of the stairlift. These services include removal for disposal or reconditioning and relocation. Our buy back offer and costs are individually assessed at the time of the request. Please call us to discuss further.
What is the delivery time?
We do have fast track systems that allow us to prioritise deliveries for a special payment. However, the standard delivery times (from your approval of the production order) are 1 to 2 weeks for a Straight StairGlide and up to 6 weeks for a Curved (round the corner) stairlift.
Do you have different colours?
Yes we have an extensive range of colours and fabrics including a luxurious leather option. We have a range of colour swatches and charts that our consultants will be pleased to demonstrate in the comfort of your own home.
How wide is your stairlift and how much room does it take up on the stairs?
The Straight Stairlift, when folded, is one of the narrowest available in the world, folding to less than 28cms or 11 inches and is designed to maximise the space for other members of the family.
The Curved Stairlift rail varies according to which side of the stairs you need the rail, the inclination of the stairs and type of any intermediate landings (fan stairs or horizontal quarter or half landing). The rail is a smooth tube – only 8cms (3 inches) in diameter. It is not the ugly 2 tube system or the big steel girder system that takes up so much space on the stairs.
The downstairs parking can usually be "in line" with the stairs because of the special swan neck, vertical bend (unlike other systems that have to turn 180 degrees and park in the hall).
Our consultant will be pleased to demonstrate sample track on site.
How far does the track protrude from the wall?
The Straight Stairlifts has a narrow aluminium track which fits in less than 18 cms or 7 inches.
The Curved Stairlift is approximately 20 cms or 8 inches
What are call and send controls?
These are simple remote push units (similar to a TV Remote Control) that allow the chair to be called or sent independently, when for instance there are 2 users in a home. They also allow your stairlift to be parked in a less obtrusive position.
Do you sell reconditioned lifts?
Yes we do. All the lifts have been reconditioned at our factory. The CurvedStairlifts Stairlifts usually needs a rail specially made for your home.
Where are your lifts made?
Both the Straight and Curved Stairlifts are now made at one central factory, serving UK and Europe. The factory, in Holland, has the latest computer assisted machines for bending the monorail tubes, for instance
Will I be able to get off safely at the top of the stairs?
Yes the Straight Stairlift has a unique swivel seat mechanism that pivots the seat from an off centre position and allows the user to be placed in a safe position on the landing and not over the stairs.
The Curved Stairlifts can be designed to take the track and seat onto and beyond the landing.
What happens if my stairlift breaks down when I'm alone or worse still I get stuck half way up the stairs?
Both Straight and Curved Stairlifts are battery operated so they will not be affected by power cuts. In the unlikely event your lift breaks down when using it - and there is not a safety issue, Stairlifts are designed to slowly and safely travel down to the ground floor park point
I've bought a stairlift from a friend. Can you install it for me?
We are unlikely to be able to help – unless it was manufactured by us – and preferably maintained by us. The needs of our clients have to be judged by our trained surveyors so the correctly specified StairGlide can be provided. We need to visit both homes and meet the new user. We also would bring each lift back to our factory for safety checking and reconditioning as necessary. We then could offer a limited warranty on the installation. We do not offer this service for products purchased from other sources or manufactured by other companies.
I'm a larger than average person. Can your lifts help me?
Both our Straight and Curved lifts can accommodate people weighing 125 kilos (about 20 stones). Our through floor lift solution offers an alternative in the home for wheelchair users,
clients with more restricted mobility or weighing in excess of 125kgs.
Do you sell stairlifts for children?
Although we don't have a lift that is specifically designed for children, all our lifts are equipped with the necessary safety provisions to accommodate children. There are some adapted seats available.
Does the stairlift have a safety belt?
Safety is the primary concern of ours. All our stairlifts have safety belts fitted as standard as well as safety edges to deal with any obstructions on the stairs. The controls are constant pressure to ensure the user is in control at all times.
Does your price include installation?
Our price includes all installation and a year’s warranty, too.
Will a stairlift make my home look like an old people's home?
Our stairlifts do not look like a piece of medical equipment, but more like a piece of upholstered dining furniture. They are available in numerous colours, to coordinate with your home décor, making it more discrete and in tune with your own surroundings.
Our rails are also relatively discrete, being amongst the smallest in the market.
Will a Stairlift enable me to stay in my own home rather than moving to a bungalow?
Stairlifts provide you with your independence again. It can be a life changing investment, which allows you too simply, quickly and most importantly, safely travel up and down your staircase in your own home. The cost of an installation is less than the removal and upheaval – and means that you can stay in the home you love.
How does the Stairlift work - does it cost a lot to run on electricity?
Both Stairlifts are battery operated. This means they only require a small charging unit at their parking places. Stairlifts comes as standard with a charge point at the top and the bottom of the stairs so you don’t need to remember where to park the lift
I'm nervous of falling, please can you assure me that having a stairlift is safe?
Unlike many other stairlifts, our stairlifts are designed to park and pivot giving maximum stability and safety on first and second floor landings. One of the many features is the easi touch swivel offered as standard on the Curved StairGlide – no need for an expensive power operation!
let us help choose the right one for you.
